CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
Open Panel – 4S 2026 Toronto

Technopower for Inclusive and Sustainable Development
Critical Approaches and Praxis for Democratic Futures

Chairs: Iñaki Goñi (UC Chile)- Paula Juarez (IESCT-UNQ) - Lucas Becerra (IESCT-UNQ)

Call for Abstracts: March 3 – April 30, 2026

This panel critically examines technopower as a key driver shaping inclusive and sustainable development pathways, while opening space for plural and alternative futures.

It invites theoretical and empirical contributions that interrogate how technological change is mobilized, governed, and contested across diverse sociotechnical contexts.

Can alternative forms of technopower enact meaningful change in today’s world? Or are we witnessing business-as-usual?

We welcome case studies involving cooperatives, unions, NGOs, R&D centers, corporations, and governmental actors pursuing democratic and environmentally sustainable futures.
