University of Southampton Anniversary Fellowships in Philosophy

The University of Southampton is looking to appoint up to 15 Anniversary Fellows across the University. Fellowships are for 3 years on the Lecturer payscale and come with £5k- £10k expenses. It is anticipated that following a successful review at the end of year three and on meeting performance criteria, Fellows will transition to an open-ended post at an appropriate grade.

 

Philosophy at Southampton are seeking to support excellent candidates to apply for a Fellowship in Philosophy. The deadline for applications is 31st March. In the first instance, can those interested in applying for a Fellowship in Philosophy email Lee Walters (l.wa...@soton.ac.uk) a CV and covering letter by 3rd March to register their interest.

The objectives of the scheme are to:

 

  • attract, develop and sustain research talent from around the world, from different backgrounds and experiences.

 

  • provide funding for the exceptional early career researchers to tackle difficult and novel challenges, and enable adventurous, ambitious research that supports our strategic priorities.

 

  • provide the development and support that enables these early career researchers to establish an independent position by the end of the Fellowship, be that either a permanent lectureship or be competitive for an externally funded Fellowship

 

Suitable candidates are expected to have:

 

  • a PhD in a relevant field or equivalent;

 

  • started to establish a track-record of high quality research for their career stage;

 

  • an aptitude to lead and inspire others;

 

  • an enthusiasm for developing skills in teaching, leadership and engagement;

 

  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

 

Diversity: These Fellowships will support applicants from diverse background and career paths. Applications from individuals from underrepresented groups and/or wishing to work part-time to combine the fellowship with personal responsibilities, are encouraged.
