Faculty of Philosophy, University of Groningen, 11–12 June 2026
Keynote speakers
Alison Peterman (University of Rochester)
Andrea Sangiacomo ( University of Groningen)
DSEMP XI is the eleventh edition of an annual international workshop that brings together advanced graduate students, early career researchers, and established scholars working in early modern philosophy, broadly construed as ranging from the late Renaissance to the early Enlightenment. We welcome papers on any topic in early modern philosophy. We particularly encourage proposals that address philosophical questions or texts that have received less sustained scholarly attention, including works by both canonical and non-canonical authors.
Building on the success of previous editions, DSEMP XI retains its current format and will will host 10 papers selected and 2 keynote lectures by invited speakers. The language of presentation and discussion is English.
If you are interested in attending this year’s event, please submit abstracts (500 words max.) suitable for anonymous review in PDF to the following email address: l.geo...@rug.nl. Please make sure the subject of the email reads: “Submission DSEMP 2026”.
Deadline for applications: 08 March 2026. We aim to notify successful applicants no later than 30 March 2026. Please note that no financial assistance can be provided to support travel expenses and accommodation for participants.
DSEMP XI is organised by the History of Philosophy Department, Faculty of Philosophy, University of Groningen.
