The Institute for the History and Philosophy of
Science and Technology at the University of Toronto is
pleased to announce the call for abstracts for our annual
graduate conference. This year our theme is Boundaries. Please see below for details. Submissions are due
February 28th to hapsa...@gmail.com.
Boundaries can
represent divisions between people, places, and ways of
knowing, but they can also represent sites of transmission
and exchange. We invite scholars from all disciplinary
backgrounds to examine the historical and philosophical
valences of boundaries. How do we understand boundaries? How
do boundaries map the spaces between disciplines,
typologies, and technosciences? How, in turn, are these
boundaries negotiated, reified, and transgressed?
The IHPST conference
will take place on Sunday, May 8, 2022 and will consist of 5
or 6 panels of 60 minutes. Proposals should be about 250
words. Clearly state the main argument of the presentation
and how it dialogues with the topic of boundaries. Proposals
for pre-arranged panels with three presenters should add a
brief statement about the theme of the panel and its
significance to the topic. Proposals are due by February 28,
2022 and should be sent to hapsa...@gmail.com. We intend
to respond to proposals by March 31.
We look forward to reading your
proposals.
Best,
IHPST Conference Team
