FCT Individual Call for PhD Research Scholarships 

Host Institution: Centre for Philosophy of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (CFCUL)

 
The Centre for Philosophy of Sciences of the University of Lisbon (CFCUL) (Lisbon, Portugal) welcomes expression of interest by prospective candidates interested in applying for a PhD grant (up to 4 years) funded by the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) under the Individual Call for PhD Research Scholarships [+info].
 
The FCT will accept applications between 1 and 31 March 2021 (17:00 Lisbon Time). Candidates will apply online directly to the FCT, but the application must be supported by a host institution and a supervisor working at a Portuguese university. 
 
The application to FCT, written in English or Portuguese, must include the following:
 
  • Detailed research plan 
  • Curriculum vitae (CIENCIAVITAE Platform)
  • Motivation letter 
  • Two recommendation letters
  • In  case  of foreign  academic  degrees, Portuguese recognition of such degree(s) and conversion of the final grade(s) to the Portuguese grading scale (*)


(*) The  recognition  of  foreign  academic  degrees  and  diplomas,  and  the  conversion  of the  respective  final  grade  to  the Portuguese  grading  scale,  can  be  issued  by a  Portuguese  public  higher  education  institution,  or  by  the  Directorate General for Higher Education (DGES). Please visit the DGES portal at https://www.dges.gov.pt/en. The process might be lengthy, especially under the current pandemic situation, therefore we recommend that it is started as soon as possible.
 
CFCUL is interested in hosting high quality doctoral students in a wide range of areas in Philosophy of Science.

The Centre for Philosophy of Science of the University of Lisbon (CFCUL) is a R&D Unit of the University of Lisbon located in the Faculty of Science of the University of Lisbon. CFCUL is the only R&D Unit in Portugal fully devoted to Philosophy of Science and is currently organized in three Research Groups:
 
RG1 – PHILOSOPHY OF THE FORMAL SCIENCES, METHODOLOGY AND EPISTEMOLOGY covers three research lines:
