Dear colleagues and students,

I am currently co-organizing a summer school on “Science and Values: Historical and Philosophical Perspectives”, 25th to 29th July 2022 at Utrecht University, the Netherlands: https://utrechtsummerschool.nl/courses/humanities/science-and-values-historical-and-philosophical-perspectives

It would be nice if you could circulate the below information. And if you know late-Bachelor, Master or early PhD students that could be interested in this event, please forward this mail to them.

Many thanks and all the best,

Jan Baedke

Against the background off current academic and public debates as well as global challenges, the summer school focuses on the role of values in and of science and their relevance in past and present scientific practice. To explore this topic, we defined three thematic lines which are (1) Science, pseudoscience, and non-science; (2) Interdisciplinarity and (3) Complexity and uncertainty. For a detailed description of the summer school, please follow this link: https://utrechtsummerschool.nl/courses/humanities/science-and-values-historical-and-philosophical-perspectives.

At the summer school, each thematic line will be studied in support of one international expert (see below). The school will host international Master (and early PhD students) with a background in history and philosophy of science (and related fields). For a teaser video on Utrecht summer schools, see here: https://utrechtsummerschool.nl/

International lecturers:
Henrik Thorén (Lund University)
Karoliina Pulkkinnen (University of Helsinki)
Kevin Elliot (Michigan State University)
Tatjana Buklijas (University of Auckland)

Deadline for application: 31st March 2022.

If you have any questions regarding the summer school, please contact jan.b...@rub.de or a.nieve...@uu.nl
