We invite applications for up to one postdoctoral or two PhD positions in the
philosophy of modern physics with the
Budapest Research Group on the Philosophical Foundations of Science, funded by the
NKFIH ADVANCED GRANT 152165 – “Philosophical Foundations of Modern Physics: Probability, Causality, and Emergence”
and lead by Prof. Gábor Hofer-Szabó.

Position(s): 1 postdoc or 2 PhD students (depending on the applicant pool)

Research areas: philosophy of modern physics, causality and contextuality in quantum mechanics, Common Cause Principle, emergence, Bayesian learning, operationalism, and relations between physics and the special sciences.

Location: Budapest, Hungary (ELTE Research Centre for the Humanities)

Duration: 1 year initially, renewable (up to 31 December 2029)

Salary:

Postdoc: 10,476,000 HUF/year (approx. €27,400/year)

PhD: per student 5,238,000 HUF/year (approx. €13,700/year)

formally oriented, interdisciplinary research environment. The working language of the group is
English; no Hungarian is required.
