The School of Philosophy at University College Dublin is delighted to invite applications for a temporary position of Lecturer/Assistant Professor in Philosophy. The duration of the appointment is 36 months, commencing 1st September 2025. The appointee will be expected to design and deliver undergraduate modules in early modern philosophy and the philosophy of social science at undergraduate level, and an MA module in metaphysics.

 

Closing date: 12 noon local Irish time on the 1st of July 2025.

The UCD School of Philosophy offers a lively and collaborative research environment and is the largest teaching and research centre for philosophy in Ireland. We regularly host invited speaker seminars, work-in-progress seminars, international conferences, and thematic workshops. 

 

The UCD School of Philosophy hosts several research centres and projects, including the UCD Centre for Ethics in Public Life (CEPL), the UCD Newman Centre for the Study of Religions, nationally funded research projects at postgraduate and postdoctoral levels, and an ERC-funded project on New Histories of British Moral Philosophy in the Eighteenth Century (2025-2030), led by Ruth Boeker.
