Happy New Year! As we step into 2026, we wish for a year that is serene, inspiring, and attentive to the fragile interdependencies that bind human and more-than-human worlds alike. May this new cycle offer moments of clarity and care, encouraging us all to pursue initiatives close to our heart, and to make time for reflection on what truly matters for our life and for our shared planet.
We enter this year fully aware that it unfolds amid profound global tensions and ongoing conflicts that continue to affect countless lives. In times marked by uncertainty, suffering, and division, the Global Posthuman Network reaffirms its commitment to existential dignity, ethical co-existence, and peace. GPN has always stood firmly against violence, war, and all forms of systemic harm and erasure. We believe that posthumanist perspectives can offer vital tools for cultivating compassion, response-ability, and relational ethics — not as abstractions, but as lived practices responsive to the urgencies of our present moment.
Above all, we wish to affirm that we are a glocal community, a shared journey sustained by dialogue, care, and the willingness to imagine ways of existing grounded in reciprocity and mutual flourishing across differences: one as many. We are thrilled to carry this spirit forward in the Second International Conference on Existential Posthumanism in Kolkata, India (14–16 January 2026), an experiential and experimental gathering exploring “Posthuman Renaissances: Making Self, Making Worlds” and fostering a vibrant glocal community of dialogue, creativity, and discovery!

A Way to Close 2025:
Celebrating the Winter Posthuman School (University of Turin, Italy)
|

As we step into 2026, we look back on 2025 with gratitude and celebration, marking its close with the Winter Posthuman School—an inspiring gathering that reached full attendance, with 50 passionate participants from across Italy. Under the theme “Posthuman Coexistence: Alterity, Ecologies, Technologies,” the program wove together lectures, workshops, collaborative labs, and reflective circles, creating a space where theory and practice intertwined and came alive in deeply generative ways.
The School opened with a public Lectio Magistralis by Professors Francesca Ferrando and Roberto Marchesini, setting the stage for an exploration of ethical, relational, and ecological dimensions of posthumanism. The video-recording of the Lectio can be found HERE. Throughout the program, the faculty—Angela Balzano, Daniela Fargione, and Anna Specchio—guided participants with insight and care, nurturing experimentation, dialogue, and collaborative project work.
Organized by CIRSDE and the Department of Foreign Literatures and Modern Cultures of the University of Turin, the School became a living testament to the power of community and collective learning. Participants walked in silence along the Dora River, shared posthuman appetizers and ideas in the park, and opened their ears and hearts in circles where every voice mattered. Across workshops and labs, projects were shared, ideas tested, and new perspectives on posthuman education and practice emerged—brimming with curiosity, imagination, and ethical reflection.
The Winter Posthuman School has not only explored coexistence—it has embodied it, showing how attentive presence, dialogue, and collective action can transform learning, community, and our ways of being together. We celebrate the enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication of everyone involved and carry forward the insights, connections, and inspiration of this extraordinary gathering into 2026.

The Second World Colloquium on Existential Posthumanism offers a space for the shared exploration of these broad questions, and other, more specific, connected to them. As a path of self-inquiry and discovery, existential posthumanism invites us to engage with the resonances, impacts, and effects of our being in the world. This Colloquium reflects that ethos by addressing both expansive philosophical questions and the micro-practices that shape everyday life.

The integration of generative AI in the creative arts marks a critical inflexion point in how knowledge, authorship and imagination are produced and valued. Within tertiary arts education, this shift challenges long-standing assumptions about creative autonomy and the role of the human artist.
This symposium explores issues surrounding posthuman creativity through a hybrid lens that foregrounds the technological agency of AI systems and the embodied awareness of human creators in artistic practice.
It investigates how new forms of artistic intelligence might emerge from collaborative entanglements between human intuition, machine learning and mindful self-awareness. It calls attention to the risks of cognitive overload and detachment that can accompany these entanglements. It examines how mindfulness, mental rest and embodied reflection can act as vital counterweights—enabling sustainable and grounded creative practices within AI-enhanced learning environments.
At the heart of this symposium lies a generative question: What forms of creativity emerge when human and non-human intelligences co-produce knowledge—and how can arts education cultivate the conditions for this co-production without eroding the embodied, mindful dimensions of artistic practice?

We are honored to announce that "Technologies of the Future Self" edited by G. Theiner, and A. Malapi-Nelson is out now!
This volume is the first to articulate ethical foundations of transhumanism from perspectives focused on transhuman flourishing, as opposed to utilitarian or deontological approaches. Transhumanism is typically framed as a quest for “transcending biological limitations” and “unlocking human potential”—and thus perceived to be at odds with ethical conceptions of a “good life” that are substantively defined in terms of “human nature.” However, the concept of “human nature” is not a biological given but deeply bound up with metaphysical conceptions about what (trans)human futures are possible, desirable, and good. It invites ethical reflection on who we are, the value of embodiment and community to (trans)human existence, and who we might hope to become. The contributions collected in this volume offer a wide spectrum of visions for shaping the techno-progressive agenda of transhumanism in ethically grounded and socially responsible ways.

We are happy to share that the book includes a chapter, titled "Beyond Theory: A Mythical Journey Towards Posthumanist Ethix" by Debashish Banerji, Francesca Ferrando, Stefano Rozzoni and Joanna Pascoe.
The chapter explores the possibility of posthumanist ethics that can help us actuallyembrace and respond to complex challenges in the present-day world, such as rapid technological and environmental transformations. This exploration is grounded in post-dualistic and relational frameworks, where the dialogue between theory and practice is central. The very way this piece was crafted reflects this search: pluralistically conceived, it emerges from the merging of individual and collective writing, challenging the notion of solitary authorship and affirming knowledge production as a relational practice. Building the concept of ‘ethix’, this chapter seeks to illustrate ways to translate widespread posthumanist ideas into tangible actions and behaviours, engaging with everyday life experiences and issues, in the understanding that the how is the what: the praxes we embrace in our lives are our ethical manifestations.

Challenging the autonomy of the human subject, it presents a radical rethinking of subjectivity, emphasizing interconnectedness and co-existence. Drawing on key movements like post-structuralism, feminism, queer theory, and decolonial studies, this book invites readers to reconsider the hierarchies of matter and agency, advocating for a more inclusive, post-anthropocentric perspective. As the concept of “becoming-with” redefines the political and philosophical landscape, this work on dynamic entanglements offers fresh insights into the future of human and nonhuman relations in both theory and artistic practice.

What is violence? What is post-violence? Why do we need to have this conversation, right here, right now? What can posthumanism contribute to the changes we want to experience? Ecology, as a descriptive science, is not only a framework for describing biological relations between living beings, but a way of thinking and cognizing entities in transcendental terms. This way of thinking cannot be limited to the descriptive realm because it implies an ontological and epistemological revolution that can no longer be ignored. In this sense, it is essential to speak of a philosophical ecology, which is not to be confused with a fundamentalist view of ecology or as a way of making the descriptive descend into the prescriptive. Rather, the point is to take the form—eco-logical thinking—to inaugurate a different mindset that can be applied to different contexts. In this book, Roberto Marchesini explores the fundamental principles of ecological thinking and shows how they can yield far-reaching philosophical change. He also explores how our way of thinking about reality has influenced our inability to fully understand the current ecological crisis and to become aware of the urgencies it poses.

These transformations raise urgent questions: What constitutes a good life in the posthuman paradigm shift? Does the future need the past in order to meaningfully reshape our becoming, and enable the realization of the posthuman paradigm shift? Is simply extending healthspan enough for a good life? Is radical life extension feasible, and what are the ethical implications of unregulated longevity interventions? What are the ethical considerations regarding predictive analytics in healthcare concerning data privacy and algorithmic bias? How can digital data be ethically used to strengthen democratic systems, and who should have access to our digital data? What new forms of vulnerability and discrimination might arise from technological enhancements, and how should they be addressed from a posthuman ethical perspective? How are sexuality and intimacy reconfigured through sexbots, VR, AI intimacies, and space travel? The Posthuman Educator Course is approaching its conclusion, and we celebrate this milestone with great joy! Participants are now entering the final stage of their journey, consolidating their studies and advancing their individual projects after months of shared learning through participatory sessions, laboratories, circles, and collaborative formats that have intertwined theory with lived, relational practice.
In February, we will hold the Conclusions and Online Certificate Ceremony, including a formal Recognition of Commitment. A Certificate of Participation will be awarded, honoring the dedication, creativity, and engagement that each participant has brought to this collective exploration of Posthuman Education.
Participants will also be invited to join internship opportunities, extending the course with applied, practice-based experiences that connect theory to action. In parallel, we will introduce tiered levels within the online Database of Posthuman Educators, celebrating diverse contributions, experience, and practical engagement.
This concluding moment is both a reflective closure and a threshold—an opportunity to honor our shared journey and embrace new pathways for learning, practice, and vibrant collaboration in the posthuman education community.
