CALL FOR ABSTRACTS
The PhD Program in Historical and Philosophical Heritage for Sustainable Innovation is pleased to announce its 3rd International Conference: “Salus and Care: Forms, Practices, Imaginaries. Historical and Philosophical Reflections on Public Health”.
DESCRIPTION:
The conference proposes a transdisciplinary reflection on public health, exploring its historical and philosophical dimensions. Moving beyond a strictly biomedical vision and drawing on the ancient notion of "salus"—as individual preservation, community cohesion, and political legitimacy—as well as the 1986 Ottawa Charter, the event interrogates how institutional and community-based structures define and protect collective well-being. This inquiry is framed within contemporary urgencies such as ecological crises, technological transformations, and the ethics of care.
THEMATIC AREAS:
Institutions, Politics, and Society
Ethics, Practices, and the Sense of the Sacred
Medicine, Technology, and AI
Philosophies of Care and Redefining Public Health
Nature and Environment
LOGISTICS:
Date: September 14–16, 2026
Venue: University of Bari Aldo Moro (Italy)
Abstract submission deadline: July 5, 2026
