1st Parma Workshop in Analytic and Scientific Metaphysics


Dates: May 15-17, 2024


Venue: University of Parma (Italy)


The 1st Parma Workshop in Analytic and Scientific Metaphysics invites scholars and researchers to submit abstracts for presentation at this event. The workshop aims to explore a broad spectrum of topics within contemporary analytic and scientific metaphysics, including issues in mainstream metaphysics, as well as work that engages with formal and empirical sciences.


Topics of interest include, but are not limited to:

- Traditional issues in contemporary analytic metaphysics

- Metaphysical investigations that interact with formal and empirical sciences

- Meta-metaphysical inquiries

- The interface between analytic and naturalistic traditions in contemporary metaphysics


We welcome abstracts from scholars and researchers at all career stages, working within these themes. Submissions should be original and present novel perspectives or insights. Submissions by members of underrepresented groups are particularly welcome.

- Daniel Dohrn (Milan)

- Matti Eklund (Uppsala)

- Zee Perry (Birmingham)

- Martin Pickup (Birmingham)


Abstract Guidelines:

- Length: 500-1000 words (excluding references)

- Deadline: Abstracts must be submitted by February 29, 2024.


Notification of Decision:

Applicants will be notified of the decision regarding their submissions by March 22, 2024.


Submission Instructions:

Abstracts should be submitted via email to alessand...@unipr.it. Please include the subject line: "Parma Workshop Abstract – [Your Last Name]". In the email, provide your name, affiliation, and contact information.


Accepted abstracts will be eligible for presentation at the workshop, fostering meaningful discussions and collaboration among scholars working in the field. Presentations will be 50’ followed by 30’ for Q&A.
