The Vultures After Our Schools!
Behind the Attacks Against Public Education and Teachers
Philadelphia’s public schools and teacher’s union are under attack. With many schools closing this year and a drastic plan for the years ahead, the very existence of public education is in doubt. As part of this attack, the Philadelphia Teacher’s Union is facing thousands of layoffs and current employees are being asked to take major pay cuts of up to 13 percent. Governor Corbett cut hundreds of millions from Philly public schools while funding prisons freely and Mayor Nutter goes along with carrying out the cuts. Philadelphia is not alone. Similar attacks on education and unions is taking place in cities across the country.
Come to a meeting of the ISO to discuss what’s behind these attacks and what it
might take to turn the tide to save public education in Philly and nationally.
