Take Back the Night - Philly

Hi everyone,

 

This week, on Thursday April 25th, the ISO branch here in Philly is marching in the annual "Take back the night" march rather than have our regular branch meeting..  As can be seen at the above link, marches will begin at four locations at 5:45 pm and converge at the Unitarian Church at 2125 Chestnut for a speak out.  Most of us will be in the march that starts at 22nd St. and Spring Garden. We invite anyone who would like to join us to meet there. If that location does not work for you there are other feeder marches or you could go directly to the speak out.

This years march is particularly important with the rightful anger toward rape culture in our society given recent high profile rape cases like Steubenville, OH. Recently, the coach who was part of the cover-up was given a two year contract extension. http://www.thenation.com/blog/173981/what-hell-steubenville-high-school-football-coach-gets-two-year-contract-extension. A movement that makes this unacceptable is sorely needed. Marches like this are a step in the right direction.
