We are done with the iPhone version of AARON (1.0). It is modeled
after the initial AIB,since we obviously can't be putting a full
neural network on a phone and have it be fast enough.
It doesn't do text-to-speech because the SDK for the iphone doesn't
include the normal mac speech functionality, although we are looking
for alternatives.
It also doesn't use the camera on the phone yet for anything.
All it does for now is the basic AIB-like AI with analogy logic.
You can configure the name you want it to use for itself, and you have
the option to clear the database and start from scratch again whenever
it pleases you.
It actually is relatively fast for all the functions we threw into
it. It starts out slightly slow for the first few minutes of dialogue
(about 3 seconds to respond), but speeds up as it learns things.
We submitted it to apple for review yesterday (February 14th)...
valentines day... slightly sad I suppose, but good news for those who
are still single and lonely because soon they will be able to have
conversations with their phone :)
At the moment, the price being discussed is $2.99.
