Dear all,

The meeting will also be online.

If you wont be available for the meeting physically but will be
available online please indicate.
We are using an online software that can only allow 25 participants,
therefore we would like to send the invitation for the online version
of the meeting to only those that will not be able to make it to the
venue. The venue will have one online attendee(or two) through which
the proceedings will be be communicated.

The meeting will be recorded and those that will not be able to attend
both modes will be able to watch(view, etc) the proceedings that will
be posted for members to see at a later time.

For more information please ask through the
isocm...@googlegroups.com

Kind regards,
Blessings.

Dear All,

Its good to hear that the meeting is scheduled for tomorrow and that
there will be facility for on-line participation. I will unfortunately
not be able to attend online due to other commitments but I will be
interested to see/hear the recording. Regarding the agenda tomorrow, I
just wanted to make a few comments on the by-laws which I hope members
will take into consideration:

- Article II - the statement of purpose contains some elements which
I think are good ideals but may be hard to realise in practice.
Specifically I am concerned about the ones that speak to "spearheading
research" and "promoting & encouraging standards and best practice in
network deployment".
- Article III - on membership I think that we should provide for
"Associate" Membership which would be for organisations/individuals
that want to be associated with us but do not have voting rights
- Article VII - the number of standing committees should be reduced: I
think that looking at the functions of the Research committee, this
may not be practical at this point in time; I also think that
Publicity and Fund-raising can be combined and Programs, Education and
Membership can be combined.
- Article IV- regarding the fiscal year running from May to April -
what is the basis for this choice? I would move for a fiscal year that
is aligned to the calendar year (Jan-December)
- Article IX on meetings mentions the Annual Business Meeting in
February/March; I'm guessing that these dates are influenced by the
choice of fiscal year; I wonder though if we can make it more generic,
like " The Annual Business Meeting shall be held in the last quarter
of the fiscal year"

My two cents' worth. I wish you all a good meeting and look forward to
the minutes and report.

regards,

Towela

Just by holding a meeting, it is a giant step on its own. Wishing all participants a viably fruitful meeting.

Dear all
We had a wonderful meeting on Saturday the 9th October 2010. There were
5 members in the meeting of course with Charles Fodya's support from
remote. The members were:
David Chima
Isabel Mangulenje
Zione Yapu
Souza Simbota and
Chisomo Kaundama

We also had three members who were online namely:
Edwin Mulenga
Hosea Phiri and
Blessings Msowoya

We had discussed several the by-laws and looked at the way we could
register the chapter with Accountant General. We also took on board the
contributions that Dr Jere sent and discussed them in detail. Our
colleagues who were online also gave wonderful input and all that was
built together into one thing. Isabel Mangulenje will send you the
minutes shortly.

We had suggested that we meet again in two weeks time = 23 October 2010
(debatable). Venue and time we didn't agree deliberately so that we
should ask members' input. This time we can discuss agenda 3 and 4 + any
other that members would bring in before then.

Regards

David Chima
