Thanks for all the positive responses.I arrive in LL on 12th and intend to go to BT on 15th so having a meeting on 14th in LL works. Will the colleagues from BT and ZA be able to make it? If not, we could have two meetings - one in LL and one in BT.  What would be good is to have a point person in BT and a point person in LL to mobilise people - any takers?

regards,

Towela

    to be done).

Lilongwe works for as well; we can even plan for 14th since its a public
holiday, am sure most of us will guarantee our availability.

The group has been dormant for a long time and the proposal to meet is very welcome. Let's just agree on the date and venue. I agree with James' proposal to have the meeting on 14th May considering that it's a public holiday. What remains now is to agree on the venue; Lilongwe or Blantyre.

I think the venue with a larger number of members will be the ideal.

Hi Towela and All,

Very glad to see such commitment for the long overdue ISOC meeting.

I am in Joburg but would not want to miss the meeting so will dial in/skype for the proceedings...

Hope the timing will be good for us all.

Not sure whether David Chima or Blessings or Anthony are part of this???

Kind Regards,
Chimwemwe.

Having two meetings will be ideal, one in LL and another in BT. Last time (I cannot remember when)  we had ISOC meetings at College of Medicine. If I can ask Souza to help on this one.

Dear All,

It sounds like we are converging on having two meetings: one in Lilongwe on 14th and the other in Blantyre on 15th. Can we agree on times and venues? Could someone also please share the document on the establishment of the chapter that was drawn up previously - I can't seem to locate a copy. Picking up on the thread of communications from 2011 (message from Blessings on 20th May 2011), it would appear that the meeting needs to look at:

" 1. The registration of the chapter with the registrar general requires
the following:
  a. That we have minutes where resolution of members to have the chapter
  b. That we have office bearers

2. We develop an action plan of chapter which we have to
follow(otherwise the chapter is dead)

3. That we clearly find ways and means of funding the chapter(of
course based on point 2 above)  "

(If we moved beyond this, please advise).

To refresh our memories on the requirements (from ISOC's perspective:

- All members of a chapter shall also be members of ISOC. Membership is not necessary, however, for participation in the activities of the society or its chapters.
- The Chapter shall have at least 25 financial individual members of ISOC
- Chapters will be encouraged but not required to constitutes themselves as not-for-profit corporate persons.
- Chapters will have as a minimum a defined Board of Directors, Officers, a written charter, members and a fixed corporate address.

(there is a proviso for ISOC to allow formation of a chapter even when the minimum requirement of 25 members cannot be met)

I think that we should open up the meetings in Lilongwe and Blantyre to other people that are not on this list, bearing in mind that membership in ISOC is open to anyone that has the interest.

The clock is running down for me so it would be good to have confirmation of times and venues by tomorrow.

kind regards,

Towela

Souza,

Did you manage to ask Anthony about the room at College of Medicine? That would be ideal.

To all group members, find attached documents that we shared on 9th October, 2010. I don't know who has the minutes. I will continue searching if I have a copy

Dear all,

I have not had access to my emails until today. I am traveling to Blantyre tomorrow morning (wednesday). I am not sure if the meeting time has been fixed - I only note the room availability as being from 1-2pm and after 3:30pm. I am reachable on 099 859 4984 - please advise specific time and room for the meeting.
