Dear All,

Good to hear that the first meeting did take place.

When ISOC International says that a minimum of 25 members should be
reached for a chapter to be formed, does this specifically refer to
members who are currently resident within the country?

On lack of ICT knowledge in secondary schools and other schools, one
of the issues that will have to be addressed is that of resources
(computers, software etc.). Several years ago, Computer Aid used to
distribute computers in secondary schools in Malawi, but they collect
computers only from the UK.

I suggest that we should look into how we can liaise with ISOC
Chapters in other countries so that they can start collecting
computers in their countries and ship them to Malawi for distribution
in Secondary Schools under the guidance of ISOC Malawi. We may wish to
learn one thing or two from Computer Aid.

Best regards
Clement

I agree with Clement Nyirenda's suggestion of sourcing computers from different countries apart from UK because the need for computers in secondary schools is quite big.

I would also like to suggest that apart from giving computers to schools, we have to train those who will be using these computers on the basics of computing.
