Mesh Density Imbalance

After meshing some black and white x-ray scans using the v2m function,
we obtain a surface mesh that is densely clustered at a single edge or
corner on the lower portion of the mesh. We're not sure how to
properly set the parameter values to obtain volume elements and
surface faces that are roughly even throughout the mesh.
