Exactly When Are Santa Clara County, California Property Taxes Due? You have until 5 p.m. on Wednesday April 10 to make your payment before a 10% penalty and $20.00 cost is added to your bill If you paid already be happy. I’ll remind you in December for the next payment. In California, property taxes are paid in two installments each year. In many people’s opinion, the drop-dead due date fall during the two worst times of the year-right before the Christmas and Hanukkah holidays, and just prior to the income tax payment deadline. Whether you live in San Jose, Cupertino, Saratoga or any of the other cities, towns or unincorporated sections of Santa Clara County, the property tax due dates are all the same. The first installment is due on November 1, and is considered late if not received in the office of the tax collector by 5:00 pm on December 10. The second installment is due on February 1 and is considered late if not received in the tax collector’s office by 5:00 on April 10. Penalties are assessed immediately when installments are not in to the office by 5:00 p.m. on December 10 and April 10.
