Hello colleagues,

It is with great sadness that we notify you that our colleague and friend Helen Kogan-Budzynski, PhD passed on the evening of November 23, 2021, at the age of 94 with her family at her side. Details have not yet been announced of how we can formally pay our respects, however, that information will be forwarded when available.

Helen was an amazing individual in so many ways. As a professor, most recently at the University of Washington, she mentored many individuals and pioneered studies pushing the edges of our scientific inquiry in the field of neurotechnology. She and her late husband, Tom Budzynski, together and individually were amazing individuals and contributors to ISNR and the field. I always found her generosity and compassion endearing as well as her astute intellect. I will fondly remember her as well as her many contributions to the academic inquiry. She and Tom opened doors for me that greatly impacted me personally and professionally. But most I appreciated the sincere and selfless investment in others through mentorship and friendship.

The photo attached is of Helen and Tom I took at ISNR mid 2000s as we dined at the banquet.

Our deepest sympathy to the family and friends,

Leslie

Thank you for posting this, Leslie.  She was a great lady and I’m sure Tom will be happy in their reunion.

Sorry to hear that. Helen was one of the most sincere and wonderful people I have had the pleasure of knowing. Helen was instrumental in getting Tom and I together to do some AVE/AVS studies. I will miss her.
