Subject: A Gift for Judy C -sshhhHello,
As is true for many in our field, we will miss Judy [Crawford] . I have been thinking about how to celebrate her retirement and want to invite you to participate in a gift for her. You are part of a group of people who either I or Rhonda identified as “friends of Judy”. I am sure there are many others and you are welcome to discreetly share this email and tell them to ask me to add them to the google sheet referenced below
A little background about what brings me to write to you….
When Judy retired (completely this time), I reached Fred with what I thought was a good idea: I wanted to get a group of Judy’s friends/colleagues to each send her flowers, one week at a time. Fred quickly reacted, saying it was “a terrible idea and Judy would not like it!” This is the first time I had ever heard Fred react negatively to me and it remains a fun memory! In reaction to Fred’s advice, I came up with the idea of donating to the food pantry where she volunteers.
I have contacted the Desert Springs Community Resource Center Food Bank and spoke with the director to confirm how to make donations in Judy’s name. In fact, the director immediately said how much they all like Judy (no surprise here). I am inviting you to make a donation to the food pantry and have a plan if you wish to participate.
1. Each week one of us can donate to the food pantry, so there will be ongoing weekly donations until the last one of us has donated.
2. This can be done anonymously, or you can identify yourself.
3. You can determine the amount of your donation
4. I will make the first donation as an example (see below)
If you decide to participate, please follow these steps. If you have any questions, feel free to email me.
1. Go to this Google Sheet and put your name by a date. (If you do not wish to participate, you dont need to do anything. I purposely blind copied all on the list Rhonda and I made, so others will not know if you did not want to participate in this game. ( I would suspect that there are some folks who have other ways of congratulating Judy on her retirement and would not be interested in this idea. )
2. Go to the Desert Springs Community Resource Center website and make your donation. I made mine anonymously, but you can also identify yourself and instruct Ray to have Judy informed that you donated.
3. Here is my example:
In the box I wrote this (per Ray’s instructions):
Per Ray (Ex. Dir.), please tell Judy Crawford an anonymous donation was made on her behalf.
Thanks for reading this and participating, if you choose to do so.
Best
Angelika
