Hi ISNR Members,
I'm seeking the wisdom of the members of our group in suggesting a tried and effective vagal nerve stimulation device (company). This is for a family member with strong anxiety, symptoms of dysautonomia, and possible auto-immune dysregulation. She would likely benefit from calming her autonomic system. The device should be user friendly. But ultimately, I'm looking for your professional advice based on your experience, as there are many such devices available.
Any recommendation will be greatly appreciated.
My thanks in advance
Steve

Hi Steve,

I've been using the Pulsetto for a few months personally and with clients with good results. It has settings for stress, anxiety, pain, sleep and burnout. It works with an app on a cell phone and is very easy to use. The price is also very reasonable.

Full disclosure, I'm an affiliate of the  company. Here's my link.

For anyone who's not familiar with vagus nerve stimulation, please see my blog on the subject: https://www.paintreatmentdirectory.com/posts/vagus-nerve-stimulation-for-chronic-pain-relief-and-more

Best wishes,
Cindy Perlin, LCSW

Originally, vagal nerve stimulation was applied to the nerve in the neck. Then, it was applied to the auricular branch of the VN in the ear, very close to where CES is applied. When you look at the research on CES, including its effect of boosting both CSF endorphins and serotonin by 100%, I have often wondered if CES is really just VNS.

Hello Steve,
I have a Vagal nerve stimulator that uses pbm (Vielight). To tell the truth I’ve used it only a few times because it seemed seemed to make me feel jittery!

Hi Cindy, thanks for your commentary on the device. Have you compared it to the sensate device? That one is much cheaper and I have had good results with it, but I know that Pulsetto has lots of research.

However, it’s difficult to tell which of the research is with their device specifically and which is generic vagal stimulation research. thanks.

We have a device that delivers a 15Khz biphasic square wave through the left tragus on the ear.  It is based on several tVNS devices out there....
Clinically I have found tVNS to be good for treating cluster headache, depression, anxiety and PTSD.  It also is cleared through  the FDA to reduce seizure.

I just ran across this article rating vagus nerve stimulators and Pulsetto came out on top:  Top 5 Vagus Nerve Stimulation Devices.

I haven't personally compared the Pulsetto to other devices, but when I looked into them, the Pulsetto seemed like the best.

Thanks to those who responded to my question about home based vagal nerve stim. I gained some valuable information. I will further check out the Pulsetto due to price, ease of use and placement location.
Thanks again.

I have not done much research on this, but I did see a video review about the palcetto, and it said that if you have a big neck, it's perfect, but if you have a small neck that it doesn't necessarily lineup right and the instructions weren't great at explaining that. The person had found a message on a Reddit, that said, if you take a small towel and roll it up at the back of your neck.  It helps position the electrodes where they are supposed to be, and then you have a towel to clean the gook off when you're done.

Neurosym and gammCORE are ones with the highest clinical validation.  Pulsetto and Truvago come in next.
Hope that helps

I use this one:

You can alternate between +, - and biphasic current. It matters as usually you only respond well to one of them and don't do well with the others.
