Hello List Mates:

As you know, we have been working on multiple projects to improve the field and member benefits.

As I work towards finishing up the last third of my Presidency, I am curious; where do our members see ISNR in 5 years from now.

As I work on this concept I would love to have member input.  So….

I hope I will hear from all of you as to where you see ISNR in five years from now?

Where do you see the field of neurofeedback heading in the future?

What should ISNR’s focus be?

How can we as an organization best serve you as a member?

What concerns do you have for our field?

Please feel free to comment here publicly or otherwise feel free to email me directly (NFB...@outlook.com).

Thank you in advance for being a member and for your support of ISNR.

Hope you have a relaxed and meaningful Memorial Day Weekend.

Be Well, Stay Safe

Rob

I think that there is becoming the realization the EEG frequency is the construct of its inputs. Just as a Farrari engine can never be tuned if the fuel is compromised, we should be looking at the inputs to the brain before we try tweaking a person's EEG. So many of my clients are simply malnourished or not sleeping well because of stress/noise, etc. I see a shifting emphasis on nutrition and lifestyle being a trend. Neuromodulation, such as photobiomodulation for stimulating mitochondria and AVS for pumping the glymphatic system plus pEMF, etc., are techniques that help correct upstream factors which dramatically impair brain frequency. So, I see a shift away from straight out neurofeedback as a starting point in treatment, but rather a fine-tuning of brain function once the upstream factors have been addressed and corrected.

Thank you Dave.   This fits the Functional Neurofeedback /Holistic Health model I am hoping takes hold.

Thank you, Dave, for this important point.  I frequently tell clients that doing neurofeedback won't make up for a crappy lifestyle.  Our biology requires that we eat, move, and sleep in proper proportions.  Sometimes correcting lifestyle issues corrects the presenting problem.  Long live the holistic models of health and recognizing that individual modalities often fail when lifestyle issues are ignored.

Best wishes, Ed Hamlin

I could not agree more that holistic models are the most effective way to conceptualize and assist our patients/clients. I would actually like to see neurofeedback being used as the bridge between the various disciplines as it is beautifully positioned to do so in that it can give us insight into what is happening for an individual’s mind, body and beyond. I am a psychotherapist and in using neurofeedback to enhance the efficacy of therapy, I also collaborate with a lot of providers/professionals from different disciplines (prescribers, dietitians, case managers, even probation officers) and neurofeedback has served our clients well in providing information we can all use to help us better understand how we can collectively help an individual improve their overall functioning.

Dave,

Excellent points.  A long overdue set of issues for all of healthcare, not just neurofeedback and biofeedback.

Just so you know -

ISNR has made active efforts to bring on more presenters and keynote speakers that incorporate Functional Medicine, Chiropractic Techniques, and Nutrition considerations for the last few years at the ISNR conferences.  No less is true for this year's upcoming speakers. So these insights were realized some time ago and efforts have been made to move in this direction of more to comprehensive/integrative health care now and into the future - glad to see everyone seems to be on the same track in thinking here -

Dave
