Thanks to these changes, using Internet Explorer 11 in the latest standards mode is more compatible with the web than ever before. As a result, IE11 simplifies web page compatibility for users by removing the Compatibility View button and reducing the number of compatibility options in the F12 developer tools for developers.

There might be extenuating circumstances in your company, which require you to continue to use Compatibility View. In this situation, this process should be viewed strictly as a workaround. You should work with the website vendor to make sure that the affected pages are updated to match the latest web standards. The functionality described here is currently deprecated and will be removed at a time in the future.

Once you turn on Compatibility View, Internet Explorer will automatically show that site in Compatibility View each time you visit. You can turn it off by removing the site from your compatibility list. Not all website display problems are caused by browser incompatibility. Interrupted Internet connections, heavy traffic, or problems with the website can also affect how a page is displayed.

I have been working on an intranet website for over 6 monthswere I have been using the below html5 doctype and edge compatibility meta tag to force Internet Explorer to not emulate an older browser version, and this has worked ok.

The reason I was doing it this way is because the place I work uses a policy setting to enable compatibility view for all intranet sites, and this approach using the EDGE setting has worked in Internet Explorer 9.

Today this stopped working as expected, I can't say for sure but I think that the policy that forces the compatibility view was not enabled in IE11 and now it is... and since this has been enabled the compatibility meta tag is no longer doing what is expected, and this site is being run in the Enterprise mode which emulates IE8.

This post: -ate-my-css---disabling-compatability-modeexplains this well, I haven't yet tried setting this header via code and our users dont have access to change their browser settings.. none of the other changes have worked as yet.

The marked answer is the correct one. However, Pricey, you should follow up on this with your AD and desktop admin groups. They are misusing the IE11 Enterprise Mode site list. Microsoft does NOT intend it to be used for all intranet sites within an organization at all. That would be propagating the existing "render all intranet sites in compatibility mode" setting that is the bane of corporate website advancement the world over.

The question is a bit old but I just solved a very similar problem. We have several intranet sites here including the one I'm responsible for, and the others require compatibility mode or they break. For that reason, site rules default IE to compatibility mode on intranet sites. I am upgrading my own stuff and no longer need it; in fact, some of the features I'm trying to use don't look right in compat mode. I'm using the meta IE-Edge tag like you are.

Since millions of websites were made compatible with the older Internet Explorer, Microsoft also added a compatibility view in Edge. This article will help you enable this compatibility view mode.

Using the compatibility view mode is useful for different intranet portals. This is how it's done. Login to any old website or intranet portal. Open settings for Edge by clicking on the icon in the top right corner. You can also press the ALT+F keys to open the settings. This will open a navigation pane and on the right, you will see an option stating 'reload in internet explorer mode.' Clicking on this will refresh the web page and open the compatibility view mode for Edge. You will also see the internet explorer logo on the address bar next to the padlock icon. You will even get a dialog box that will ask if you want to keep the compatibility view mode on for 30 days. You can click that if you want.

To always enable the compatibility mode, you need to open the Edge settings. On the left side of the page, you will see the option for selecting the default browser. Click on it and go to the Internet explorer mode page. Click on the 'add' button and write the websites you want to open in the compatibility view mode. Click on add again to save this list.

Activating the compatibility view mode in Edge can be done in a few steps. Open the Edge browser and press ALT+F to open the settings. Click on the default browser option from the left and then click on internet explorer mode. From the dropdown menu that appears, select 'allow' and click on save. Restart Edge and this will activate the compatibility view mode.

Now that Microsoft has stopped support for internet explorer, it's time to give Microsoft Edge a chance. It is a decent browser with various features. Activate the compatibility view mode and you can use Edge as you used to use IE.

With IE10, I could add selected sites to Compatibility View via the registry with something like registry setting for IE's compatibility view settings to add a site?, so it was easy to push these settings out to my users. But with IE11, I haven't been able to figure out how to do it. I've done some tests and searched the registry but haven't been able to locate the correct key.

Chances are you are using one of our listed supported browsers, but sometimes you may run into an issue where our website doesn't display properly. If you are using Internet Explorer, this may be a compatibility issue and you will need to remove HawaiianAirlines.com from IE's list. Not to worry, we can walk you through the steps.

If you have been redirected here automatically, you may experience a few incompatibilities with some of our pages. Follow the steps below to ensure the best possible experience. If you need to reset your password, please view our Reset Password page.

When I ran Regedit on one of the target PCs and did a search for the UserFilter entry, it was stored in HKEY_USERS\.Default (which, of course, is used by the Local System account). I back-tracked and noticed this was the only option available in that context (see below). I must confess, I haven't done a lot of work on Registry settings via GPP, so it has me confounded.

A compatibility mode refers to a software mechanism in which a software emulates an older version of software in order to allow obsolete software or files to remain compatible with the computer's newer hardware or software. Examples of the software that use the mode are operating systems and Internet Explorer (IE). The term 'Compatibility View' or 'Internet Explorer Compatibility View' refers to IE's implementation of a compatibility mode.

The Finesse Supervisor and Agent Desktop allowed the support for compatibility view in the earlier releases since 10.0. This causes issues with the Cisco Unified Intelligence Center (CUIC) Live Data gadgets, spike in Central Processing Unit (CPU), etc.

UCCX 11.0(1) SU1 introduced a new serviceability enhancement that allows you to identify if an unsupported compatibility view setting on Internet Explorer is used. If Internet Explorer with Compatibility View enabled or with a document emulation mode other than Edge mode, the Finesse desktop displays the error message:

The compatibility view settings can be accessed in Internet Explorer's Tool menu. Ensure Internetworking Protocol (IP) address and Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) are not included in the compatibility view list. If you use a local, intranet domain, ensure the "Display intranet sites in Compatibility View" checkbox is unchecked.

I've tested it and it's working nicely if I navigate directly to my visualforce page instead of viewing it from the page layout. The document mode is not set to IE10 if I view it from the page layout ( when it's embedded).

A compatibility mode is a software mechanism in which a software either emulates an older version of software, or mimics another operating system in order to allow older or incompatible software or files to remain compatible with the computer's newer hardware or software. Examples of the software using the mode are operating systems and Internet Explorer.

A compatibility mode in an operating system is a software mechanism in which a computer's operating system emulates an older processor, operating system, and/or hardware platform in order to allow older software to remain compatible with the computer's newer hardware or software.

Examples include Classic Mode in Mac OS X and compatibility mode in Microsoft Windows, which both allow applications designed for older versions of the operating system to run. Other examples include Wine to run Windows programs on Linux / OS X and Mono to run .NET programs on various Unix-like systems.

"Compatibility View" is a compatibility mode feature of the web browser Internet Explorer in version 8 and later. When active, Compatibility View forces IE to display the webpage in Quirks mode as if the page were being viewed in IE7.[1][2] When compatibility view is not activated, IE is said to be running in native mode. In IE11, a user can turn on compatibility mode for a web site by clicking the Gears icon and clicking Compatibility View Settings.

In order to maintain backwards compatibility, sites can opt into IE7-like handling of content by inserting a specially created meta element into the web page that triggers compatibility mode in the browser, using:[4]

Microsoft maintains a list of websites that have been reported to have problems in IE8's standards mode, known as the compatibility view list. When a user enables this list IE8 will render the websites in the list using its compatibility view mode.[7] The list is occasionally updated to add newly reported problematic websites, as well as to remove websites whose owners have requested removal. The Internet Explorer team also tests the websites on the list for compatibility issues and removes those where none are found.[8]
