Happy New Year,

IslandoraCon will be held from July 25-28th at the University of Toronto Scarborough, and as the chair of the local committee, I’m reaching out to invite you to join our conference planning committee.

We’re hoping for a first meeting on January 24, 25, or 25. The Doodle poll with options (Eastern Time) is available here:

https://doodle.com/meeting/participate/id/bYWvmPOe.

If you know you want to participate, but none of these proposed times work for you, do reach out and let me know. I’ll make sure we contact you for the next one.  Time commitment can vary based on your interest and availability, and we’ll be hashing out some details about scope in this first meeting. If you are not sure, but just want to come and provide some feedback, that is also great, and you are most welcome!

Best,

Kirsta

Hello Islandora,

The conference committee met for the first time on January 25, and reviewed the plans for IslandoraCon 2023, which will be held in Toronto, Ontario July 25th-July 28th.

With the Islandora Camp coming up on March 20th, it’s a good time to review the differences between these Islandora events.

Islandora Camp is a 2-day virtual event, with a focus on software instruction and informal ‘un-conference’ style community conversations and presentations. Sessions will not be recorded and released afterward.

In contrast, IslandoraCon is a 4-day in-person event with more ‘traditional’ conference and community presentations (papers, workshops, and panels). In contrast to last year (and based on feedback from attendees), there will not be a virtual option for IslandoraCon. However, like last year, all appropriate sessions will be recorded and available after the conference on our YouTube channel.

More details about IslandoraCon, including timelines for CfPs and registration, and travel/accommodations information are now available at the IslandoraCon website

If you are unable to attend IslandoraCon, we would love to see you at Islandora Camp as an attendee or a presenter!

As always, if you have any questions about Islandora Camp or IslandoraCon, please feel free to write comm...@islandora.ca. Hope to see you there!

Best,

Your Islandora Conference Planning Committee
