isle-buildkit 7.0.0 Released — Major Version Bumps & Breaking Changes

Hello,

At the weekly tech call today we released ISLE Buildkit 7.0.0, a major update bringing significant version bumps across ISLE's docker images along with some breaking changes. Please review the details below before upgrading.

Given the breaking changes and major dependency bumps, please test thoroughly in a staging environment before deploying to production. Questions and issues can be raised on the isle-buildkit GitHub repo or in the usual community channels.

Breaking Changes

• Solr 10 upgrade: Since this release updates Solr to 10.0.0, you'll also need to run
  
  composer update drupal/search_api_solr
  
  for your Drupal codebase to update the corresponding Drupal module to version 4.3.13 or greater. You'll also want to run through the solr update documentation while rolling out the buildkit 7.x release
• The docker image islandora/fcrepo6 was renamed to islandora/fcrepo
• With Fedora updated to v7, the image is no longer labeled fcrepo6. Update your references accordingly.
  
• Three docker images are no longer being built. If you or someone from your institution would be interested in supporting these images, either by becoming involved in maintaining and supporting one or more, or through providing financial underwriting, please let us know.
  
• islandora/blazegraph
• The upstream Blazegraph project was archived on GitHub as of March 23, 2026, so no further releases will be built in ISLE. The last tag available is islandora/blazegraph:6.4.3
• islandora/crayfish
• Milliner is now the only actively used Crayfish service, so maintaining a base Crayfish image is no longer useful.
• islandora/riprap
• The islandora_riprap module does not have a modern Drupal counterpart. The last tag available is islandora/riprap:6.4.3
