Hello, Islandora!
Ahead of IslandoraCon, the Islandora Coordinating Committee is asking for your help in supporting Islandora’s commitment to working together in inclusive, respectful, and collaborative ways. Here are some options for doing so:
Join the new team that will respond to Code of Conduct incidents. The Code of Conduct Committee will be composed of volunteers drawn from the broad Islandora community, together with specific representatives from the ICC. This team will respond to reports of Code of Conduct violation, and will help to establish best practices in training and policy around community safety and inclusivity, especially for events such as IslandoraCon. Training in incident response will be provided for committee members.
Volunteer to help keep IslandoraCon’s physical and online spaces safe and welcoming. This volunteer work does not involve longer term CoC incident response work; presence at the conference in person or online is required to support Code of Conduct norms. Bystander training will be available, and additional guidance will be provided.
Without volunteering for an official role supporting the Code of Conduct, consider attending a bystander training session if you will attend the conference. This will help prepare you to support the volunteers and reinforce welcoming environments.
