Hello everyone,
This is a reminder that the November Open Meeting will be held next week on Tuesday November 19th from 12-1:30 pm Eastern Time.
Please register for a calendar and Zoom invitation
here. The agenda can be found
here.
We’ll be diving into the topic of accessibility. We’d love to hear about your efforts in repository accessibility or for you to bring your questions or thoughts on things like system set-up, metadata work to enhance accessibility, video transcript and subtitle availability, institutional policies, user testing, or just sharing where you’re at right now.
To start us off, Derek Merleaux (Senior Consultant at Born-Digital) will provide a brief overview and discuss lessons learned from a project to bring a large repository into full compliance w/ WCAG 2.1 AA standards for accessibility. He’ll touch on specific pain points (3rd party software - especially viewers), content remediation versus site/code remediation, and some thoughts about the government guidelines for archival repositories.
Additional ad-hoc demos or show-and-tells relating to accessibility are very welcome! The coffee talk format is meant to be open-ended and informal. We’ll also have community updates and save time for any open Q&A.
We hope to see you there!
Sarah (on behalf of the ICC)
