Open Meeting reminder for Aug 4 & info on our main topic

Hello Islandora Community,

The Islandora Foundation Leadership Group and Board have been working together over the past few months to identify a more sustainable fiscal & organizational home, as it is costly both financially and administratively to run a Canadian Non-Profit.

In looking for a new solution, we began speaking with CLIR, the Council on Library and Information Resources; a well-established and respected organization that has been around since 1956. Our conversations thus far have been productive and incredibly promising. Joining their affiliate program would allow us to expand our reach, provide stability to the Foundation, and provide access to resources such as grant writing assistance and event support. We would be in good company alongside projects like IIIF, code4lib, IIPC and NDSA. Both the Board & Leadership Group have voted in favor of moving forward with becoming an affiliate.

Next week’s open meeting at 1PM ET will include time for more detailed information to be presented, as well as an open discussion on this matter. Members will be voting on this decision as well as regular elections for the Board and Leadership Group at the Annual General Meeting, to be held on August 12th, 2026.
