Not sure if this is an issue or not. Can you log into the matomo web ui and make sure it is collecting statistics?

In previous playbook versions this did not create difficulties (or none that I noticed).

I ended up not adding that line to general.yml

Should I be worried ? Everything looks just fine...

It is supposed to work. I just spun up a playbook instance using the starter_dev install profile and it was successful. We would need more details of your build and the error messages to debug further.
