March Open Meeting tomorrow, 12-2 p.m. ET

Hello Islandora,

The March Open Meeting will take place tomorrow, Tuesday, March 28, between 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Eastern. The Islandora Coordinating Committee organizes these meetings, which are held the last Tuesday of the month.

This month's open meeting will include Foundation Updates, an open Q&A, and an Islandora Site Demo from Vassar College's Nicole Scalessa.

The new Vassar College Digital Library was an 18 month effort to migrate the collections from the old i7 digital library and create three new repositories each with unique implementation and user access requirements. Nicole Scalessa, Head of Digital Scholarship and Technology Services, and project manager for the implementation, will share how this unique use of Islandora 2.0 allowed them to migrate and integrate disparate systems, leverage years of work creating EAD finding aids, and design a Herbarium based in Darwin Core. Preservation practices will also be covered in addition to what did not migrate, why, and what solutions they found.
