I'm installing Islandora and am up to https://wiki.duraspace.org/display/ISLANDORA/milestone+5+-++Installing+the+Islandora+Essential+Modules => "Install dependencies"

When I run apt-get install pdftotext poppler-utils  I get

"E: Unable to locate package pdftotext"

and when I run apt-get install gs I get

"Package gs is not available, but is referred to by another package.

This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or

is only available from another source

E: Package 'gs' has no installation candidate"

I'm running Ubuntu 16.04

TIA,

Ilana

I can replicate your error on a fresh 14.04 box. It looks like the instructions need to be updated:

  • pdftotext is part of poppler-utils so running `sudo apt-get install poppler-utils` should do it.
  • `apt-get install gs` should be `apt-get install ghostscript`.
