Hi All,
We are back this month with the next instalment of the Solutions Showcase Series. Join us Wednesday, May 13th @ 9:00am Eastern. This Series is a regular virtual event, bringing together individuals and institutions from across the GLAM sector to demo practical solutions they've implemented to mitigate the negative impacts of AI bot harvesting on their systems, including repositories, websites, catalogues, and more.
Details:
Date: Wednesday, May 13, 2026
Time: 9:00am Eastern
Location: Zoom - https://lyrasis.zoom.us/meeting/register/3nhNv8SCTAOzG_cB5YCXOA
Each session will feature a live demo and time for Q&A.
Demos will span a diverse range of technical approaches, including open and non-open source solutions.
As we continue to explore new and innovate approaches to bot mitigation, we are pleased welcome Tim Lloyd, CEO of LibLynx. Tim will be joined by his colleagues Paul Dixon (CTO), and George Andrei (Senior Software Engineer), to introduce us to a tool LibLynx is developing that automatically classifies and categorizes bot traffic. The Bot Filter uses a combination of techniques including machine learning and IP address verification, with the goal of enabling users to identify robotic traffic upfront with no impact on the user or privacy concerns. With this, users can also tag those access requests with metadata that can help platforms make informed decisions about management of bots downstream (e.g. send to headless architecture; include in usage analytics).

The Solutions Showcase Series is organized by the AI Discussions Working Group, a collaborative initiative that emerged from shared concerns about the impact of AI-driven web harvesting on academic institutions. While our initial focus was on academic repositories, we’ve since expanded our scope to include all corners of the GLAM sector.

We’re actively looking for additional presenters! If your institution has addressed AI bot scraping in a creative or effective way, we’d love to feature your work. Please reach out to Arran Griffith at arran.g...@lyrasis.org to book a presentation slot.
Warm regards,
Arran Griffith, on behalf of The AI Discussions Group
