Hi Chris,
We do something like that using Googles custom variables[1] (which are
now Custom dimensions [2]).
Basically in the template preprocess we store the collection PIDS for
each object. Then in the actual template we add a javascript block [3]
to set the variables/dimensions.
This requires custom theming but can all be done at the theme layer. You
just need to load the javascript at the top[4] but not send the pageview
until the footer[5].
Again this is out of date and I'll need to update it for the latest
tracking, but it allows you to get counts of page views by PID or title
or objects in collections.
Matamo as Diego mentioned also does all of this.
