Hello, Islandora!
The ICC would like to share some committee
changes with the Islandora Community. Amy Blau is stepping down as ICC
chair effective June 28; she has served in this role since May of 2022
(thank you, Amy!), and the ICC is now seeking a new chair. Amy's term has been facilitated by the
Islandora Contributor Program
(copied below as well), which allows Islandora community members to
chair key groups and committees outside of the institutional membership
structure. We would like to take this opportunity to remind the
Islandora community of this program, and encourage interested
Islandorans to take advantage of it. If you have been an active
participant in the Islandora community and would like to make a
difference by taking on a key governance position, please contact the
ICC. Amy would be happy to answer questions about this position and the
contributor program.
The terms of the ICC and the chair are here (
https://github.com/Islandora/islandora-community/wiki/Coordinating-Committee-Terms-of-Reference) but the current scope of the role generally consists of:
- Coordinating bi-weekly ICC meetings (call for agenda items, meeting reminders, noting follow-up and action items)
- Coordinating the ICC in planning and facilitating the monthly Open Meeting
- Coordinating with TAG and the Leadership Group to share updates on key activities and conversations
- Outreach
to and support of Interest Groups by maintaining awareness of their
work and through regular check-ins and communication
- Supporting
initiatives like the planning for a 2025 IslandoraCon (note that a
separate planning committee will be charged to take responsibility for
this initiative)
The coming year will present
opportunities to contribute to larger community and Foundation strategic
conversations and will have an impact on the near term direction of the
Islandora platform. If you are interested, we encourage you to contact
the ICC (
islandora-coordi...@googlegroups.com).
If you’d like to contact Amy directly with questions about the chair
role or the Contributor Program, feel free to email her at
bla...@whitman.edu. We’d love to hear from interested folks before the end of July to help in transitional activities before the fall.

financial commitment.
