Dear Islandora,
I am writing to provide an update on special topics for the next two open tech call meetings. These meetings are held every Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. EST and are open to all.
On December 7 the Islandora Foundation contract programmer Nigel Banks will be present to discuss a sizeable pull request for ISLE-BUILDKIT designed to improve the usability and security of these tools. He will also be discussing ISLE-SITE-TEMPLATE, a potential new addition to the ISLE-a-verse, designed to lower barriers to installation and maintenance of an Islandora site in Docker.
On December 14 Islandora Foundation Product Owner Rosie LeFaive will lead a discussion on another proposal developed with Nigel to support versioning in the Islandora project, called “Islandora Editions.”
To guide these discussions, the document Modularizing Islandora Project – Deployment & Releases is available for public comment. Links to the relevant Open Meetings, including how to join, are available at the top of the first page.
If you have other feedback but are unable to make these Open Tech calls, please feel free to send it to comm...@islandora.ca or reach out on Slack. Your feedback is welcomed and desired!
Thank you,
Kirsta
