cant create xml file for pdf

we installed drupal with islandora

we can add pdf file but the crayfits not creating the xml for this file returning the following error:

-connector-fits] | DerivativeConnector              | 108 - ca.islandora.alpaca.islandora-connector-derivative - 1.0.4 | Error connecting generating derivative with http://crayfits:8000: HTTP operation failed invoking mysite/en/node/626/media/fits_technical_metadata/1 with statusCode: 500

any idea what the reason could be

That 500 error looks like it is happening when the PDF file is getting requested from Drupal.  What do your Drupal logs say?

i cant find out what is fits_technical_metadata
