 Hi,

I have been searching the Internet for an example Dublin Core xml file for a thesis or dissertation and can't find any. In particular I would like to see an example that uses the dc qualifiers as I am not sure how they should be coded/nested. If someone coule provide an example using the following fields that would be great (it would help wrap my head around it).

  • dc.title.alternate
  • dc.description.abstract
  • dc.description.note
  • dc.description.release
  • thesis.degree.name
  • thesis.degree.level
  • thesis.degree.discipline
  • thesis.degree.grantor

Thanks.

PS Also are there xlst documents available online that convert dublin core to MODS or MARC (or vice versa).

Hi Peter:

In IslandScholar.ca we describe our theses using MODS and extend MODS with the ETD-MS schema ( http://www.ndltd.org/standards/metadata/etd-ms-v1.00-rev2.html ) to capture information about degrees, etc.

The XML Form Builder form we use for theses is available from here:
https://raw.github.com/roblib/islandora_scholar_upei/master/forms/upei_thesis_form.xml

There is a MODS to ETD-MS XSLT available from here:
https://raw.github.com/Islandora/islandora_oai/7.x/transforms/mods_to_etdms.xsl

You can see an example of the transform in action here ... we expose our thesis metadata as ETD-MS:
http://www.islandscholar.ca/oai2?verb=ListRecords&metadataPrefix=oai_etdms&set=ir_thesisCollection

Have a look and see if that meets your needs.
