Hi all,
Islandora discussions have lately been transitioning away from mailing lists and Google Groups to Slack, where conversations are more dynamic, people online can be reached and react instantly, and you can easily switch between channels to get all your Islandora talk in one place.
As posts to this group of late have mainly been one-way announcements, it would make sense to migrate the BC Islandora User Group to Slack along with the other user and interest groups. This has a number of benefits:
- Easy discovery of other channels and discussions that concern Islandora users, because they’re all in one place
- Easy discovery of this group by other users who never heard of it
- You can receive discussions via email if you don’t want to log in and catch up
- Possibility of connecting with each other in real time
- No need to juggle between personal and professional Google accounts to access the group (is that just me?)
To that end, I’ve created a new channel for us in the Islandora Slack: #western-canada. Islandora use in the region is growing, so exclude other western provinces?
Cheers,
