In Windows95, the Dial-up Networking connection defaults to negotiating a
number of "useless" connections that have nothing to do with the TCP/IP
connection you need to make with the server.
Check to make sure that the following items are turned off in your Dialup
Networking SERVER TYPE properties:
* "Log on to network" -- attempts to log you on to a Windows NT network;
not necessary to connect to Island Net
* IPX/SPX and NETBEUI -- you don't need these protocols to connect to
Island Net's TCP/IP Network.
I have noticed substantial decreases in the wait to connect with these
items turned off.
