Subject: [CityCircle] Fri 4 Mar: Ummah - a middle nation, a mercy for all

Dear Brothers & Sisters
Assalamu alaikum

May this message find you in the best of health and iman, insha'Allah. Please accept this invitation to attend this week’s City Circle on Friday 4 March 2005.

The Qur’an describes Muslims as "Ummat-e-wast" and "khair-e-ummah". What do these terms mean in modern English and what are their contemporary implications and relevance?  We are pleased to have as our speaker Shaykh Haytham Tamim, the founder and teacher of Utrujj - a leading provider of progressive Islamic teachings in the UK - and a regular speaker at the City Circle.

Shaykh Haytham has studied Shariah for over 16 years and has accreditation (ijaaza) in recitation, interpretation and Sciences of the Qur'an, Hadith and Fiqh from the scholars of Sham, Medina and Indo-Pak. As well as verifying (tahqiq) over 20 books, his specialities include comparative Fiqh, Usool and Hadith. This knowledge is harnessed with extensive teaching experience, he has taught students for over 12 years in numerous countries. He has served as a lecturer of Comparative Fiqh for many years at the Islamic University of Beirut and also as a lecturer of Hadith and Seerah at the Azhar Lubnan Academy, Lebanon.

There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.

The venue and time for the talk are:

TIME: 6:45pm to 8:30pm.

LOCATION: Main Hall (Ground Floor), 45 Crawford Place, London W1H 4LP.
DIRECTIONS TO VENUE: Come out of Edgware Road Underground Station (Bakerloo, Hammersmith & City, Circle and District line) on to Edgware Road. Turn left and walk up for a few minutes until you see a Safeway on your right. Crawford Place will be on your left. Turn into Crawford Place and number 45 is located on the left a few minutes up.
