Dear colleagues, Our hearts go out to the people of Turkiye and Syria, and their families and friends in our community, following the recent earthquake and subsequent devastation unfolding. We are reaching out to students from the Turkish and Syrian communities to offer free counselling and support to help them get through at this time. We would like to offer the same for our staff. Staff with connections to the Turkish and Syrian communities can reach out to our free 24/7 confidential counselling services via our Employee Assistance Program by calling 1300687327 or by visiting ‘Counselling and other support’ on our website to learn more about the counselling available. Staff who wish to attend vigils or prayer services should discuss this with their line managers to make arrangements. At times such as this you can feel powerless to help. Aid agencies such as the Australian Red Cross, UNICEF and Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors without Borders) are providing emergency relief in the region or collecting donations, so you may wish to learn more online about their work to help those communities get through this tragedy.
