How ettihad is eroding Shia beliefs

A textbook case of how political ettihad with the Sunnis is leading us to forego Shia values and beliefs.

Muqtada Sadr al-Musawi son of Ayatullah Muhammad Sadiq al-Sadr from the renowned Sadr family has sky high political ambitions which include presiding over Iraq and with luck over all Shias of the world - something of an Iraqi Wali-e-Faqih.

To that end, he has made several overtures to Sunnis in Iraq in a bid to oust his more Shiite rivals.

Sample these articles:

As if political ettihad was not enough, Muqtada Sadr has backed his unity calls with the Sunnis by playing to the galleries with support for the three caliphs preceding Ameerul Momineen (a.s.). On the same lines companions and wives of the Prophet (sawa) have got Muqtada's full support.

What began as political ettihad is unfortunately leading the Shias towards religious ettihad. Religious ettihad is the means, political ettihad is the end.

Let alone Sunnis, even Bohris have been pulled on the ettihad bandwagon with condolences conveyed on the death of their leader. Bohris as we know do tabarra from Imam Moosa Kazim (a.s.) - the seventh infallible Imam of the Shias and the ancestor of Muqtada Sadr al-Musawi.

Ettihad has led to calls to stop tabarra, tatbeer, mourning ceremonies on other Masoomeen (a.s.) only because it antagonizes the Sunnis. Even Janabe Zahra (s.a.) is not spared. A leading Shia magazine which had all along been carrying articles on Janabe Zahra (s.a.) in the Jamadi al-Awwal martyrdom issue, did not carry any articles this year. But they still had the 'good sense' and to carry an editorial on the importance of ettihad with Muslims. So ettihad with the Muslims means avoiding matters that lead to friction among Muslims like martyrdom of Janabe Zahra (s.a.), martyrdom of Janabe Mohsin b. Ali (a.s.) and maybe even Ghadeer and Muharram in the near future.
