Obama is failing as a student of history

Dear Editor, In (President Barack) Obama's recent speech in Cairo, he claimed to be a student of history and knows civilization's debt to Islam, giving Al-Azhar University credit for carrying the light of learning that paved the way for the Renaissance and Enlightenment.

He went on to give credit to the Muslim community for developing algebra, the magnetic compass, tools of navigation, pens and printing, our understanding of disease and healing, architectural arches and spires, poetry, and music.
