OBJECTIVES: SUGGESTIONS

Dear Dr. Rajih, Assalamu alakum w/r w/b. Thank you for sending the email on the objectives of "Islam and Muslim in Western Literature." I think that the objectives are carefully selected and well suit the group. I wonder whether it would be appropriate to extend the framework of the group and include the Western Media in general or Western Culture. This could be of interest to more people who are interested in presenting both Islam and Muslim and can attract more positive contribution from other various groups. Another suggestion I may think of is providing a bibliography and links to works discussed or concerned. I presume a big number of the literary works concerned are already available for free download, in addition a lot of criticism works dealing with the same subject. It would be good, I think, to design a website open to all people concerned with the subject who may search for information on the subject. Thanks These are some of the objectives I had in mind for this group: 1. Spread the word about this field and bring more awareness about it 2. Encourage our students and colleagues to write some of their papers on this topic. 3. Moniter, and establish a database for Literary works that deal with Islam and Muslims. 4. Bring together in one place experts and researchers interested in the representation of Islam and Muslims in Western Literature. 5. Select certain topics, books, articles and begin discussions among members about them. 6. Invite some of the scholars and have them write something for our readers. 7. Provide material and consultations for teachers designing syllabuses for courses on the field. 8. Devote a number of pages for team work where every member can log in and add his or her contribution.  9. develop into a whole web site for Islam, Muslims and Western Literature.   Can you think of some more objectives? Based on the objectives we will have the plan to achieve these goals. Thanks
