Here is the jist of the call:

Attendees: Anish Pr, Ravi Pr, Hema Malini mtji, Varsana dd, Ganga Narayan das

1. Too many things happening on May 18th. FOLT - kitchen and other places will be busy from early morning. Jiv Jago heading to Austin that morning to attend a devotee's graduation ceremony. So we will explore Bada Hari Pr for 20/21/22 May (weekdays). Anish to speak with Mother Guru Bhakti and check Bada Hari Pr's availability. Jiv Jago - fallback.

2. Get a website working in some form or shape. Alternatively, and probably a quicker option - develop facebook presence.  

3. Additional advertisement ideas

. Fliers -- Universities

. Newspapers, other publications - Natural Awakening

. Sampler CDs with kirtans - long term project

. T shirts - devotees can wear a Sacred Sounds T-shirt to advertise it :-)

. Banner facing 34th St.

. Car Decal

. Kirtan at the park (take promotional items)

 

4. Prasadam

American - Sandwiches + Juice + chips

or

Mexican - Burritos + soup

Dear Devotees,

Guru Bhakti mataji already checked with Bada Hari Prabhu for the program - weekday evenings. Bada Hari Prabhu along with other devotees who are accompanying him will be doing programs - 1. talk based on their experiences travelling the world doing kirtans, 2. Internal mood - after and before kirtan.

I think mataji will be confirming this very soon.

Mother Guru Bhakti said Bada Hari Prabhu will not be coming to Houston anymore. He may be coming for a couple days after Sadhu Sanga however I don't think it's a good idea to do it the Monday after sadhu sanga. It's already a long weekend and we will be rushing to get back to set up/prep for program.

How about let's do it on Wednesday, May 22 evening with the youth here?

I agree that the Monday after Sadhu Sanga would not be good as well. 

 

I'm not sure how feasible it will be to have one this month.  Would it be better to solidify a day in June where little might be happening and really prepare/advertise for it?

This month seems to be packed and there are sufficient reasons to cancel this month's event. But in my perspective, for the sake of consistency of this service, we must go ahead.  Even if it will be just a few of us, I feel for our benefit, we must have it. My concern is, canceling kirtan events should not become an easy option that our mind can quickly latch on to. A kirtan a month must mean a kirtan a month. We will always be up to our necks in this temple. Personally, I'd like to see one year of consistent kirtans each month.

We could keep it low scale - perhaps advertise only on meetup. We could even tone down the prasadam - salad and soup. Something we can manage on a consistent basis. Mode of ignorance is lethargy/laziness, mode of passion is start and stop, and mode of goodness is maintenance (most difficult) - a message from a chastisement I received very early in my spiritual life from a very compassionate vaishnava :-)

Varsana and myself are away for a week starting Thursday early morning and Mon/Tuesday are the only evenings that work for me. Mon is ruled out because it will be right after the big event. So that leaves Tuesday evening - ekadasi. We could plan for a simple quinoa salad, soup and a buckwheat cake prasadam.  

Pls share your thoughts/comments/suggestion.

I have to agree. Maintenance is work but reaps benefits.

Simple prasadam regardless. Kirtan is the attraction.

This coming Tuesday My 21st sounds good to me too.
