As we discussed our next Sacred Sounds event will be on Thursday, May 30 at 7PM. 

I created a Meetup event and Facebook event. Please RSVP on Meetup. If we get enough RSVPs on Meetup it will start suggesting the event to other groups where I have posted it - such as the Houston Vegetarian group and Houston Yoga Group (which have hundreds of members). 

I put it together pretty quickly so please let me know if we need to make any changes. I know the formatting of the profile picture is a bit messed and we could use some better quality pics - I'm still working on the aesthetics. Let me know if you have any suggestions!

Wonderful! The logo is very creative. I am sure this was a quick hack given your time constraints, but I would suggest adding a few colors to the logo and probably a hint of yoga themes. 

Just a suggestion on the meetup/facebook - the writeup on the home page seemed a mouthful: Commonly known as the process of bhakti-yoga, spiritual sound vibrations through what is called kirtan have a unique potency to penetrate the layers of the body, mind and intellect, and directly resonate with the soul

Consider breaking it into two sentences.

Spiritual sound vibrations, called Mantras, have a unique potency to penetrate the layers of the body, mind and intellect, and directly resonate with the soul/heart. Mantras chanted in a call and respond fashion in a group is called a Kirtan, a core component of the Bhakti Yoga system - the Science of Devotion. We welcome .....

Mother Guru Bhakti gave me some of the contact lists from the festival this past weekend to enter in to our outreach contacts.  Anish prabhu said there is a list that is sorted by festival where we can enter these contacts.  Does anyone have any information on that so that David and I can get started on entering these (there’s about 10 pages)?  The sooner we enter them, the sooner we can send out an invite to this Saturdays Sacred Sounds event.

OH!  The temple announcement indicated that Govinda prabhu would be doing the Sacred Sound at 2pm on Saturday.  Our fliers indicated 12-130.  Can we send out an updated announcement with the correct time?

Also, I’m am not at all very technologically intelligent so is there anyone that can create a nice email invitation to Saturdays event and then send it out once the contacts have been entered?  If so, can you please be sure to mention the meet-up group and facebook page for SS?

And finally, you guys are really amazing and surrendered far beyond anything I’ve ever seen.  Despite the muchi-ness (on many levels) of the festival, you guys were still effulgent and could easily be spotted in the crowd.  Thank you so much for your unflinching service and kind association.

My mind is rolling right now so please forgive the multiple emails.  :)

 

We received a complaint about the smell of the carpets at the last SS event last week.  I think we should go ahead and invest in some carpets for the event this weekend.  I would be better to make a good impression than not....and bad smells can leave a negative lasting impression.  I think darker, Indian-ish styles are better as they will tie into the feel of things.

 

SIGNS:  We need them BAD and asap.  We can get this kind that stakes into the ground  and i called a company that can almost definitely have them by end of day friday.  the are double sided and if we order 20 (which is their bulk pricing) they are $10.50 each and come with a stake that can be removed.  the sign itself (w/o the stake) is 18" tall and 24" wide. The stake can add at least 1-2' in height.  Any quantity less than 20 is $57 per piece.  ..it's a printing diference.  The 20 is better and will account for those damaged and lost in future.

 

OR, we can go with the A-frames: 
 or  (not sure which one they gave the quote on but they are double side capable , meaning removable weather-proof inserts for both sides and the price per piece (including frame and 2 inserts) is $164.  the frames are 3' tall and 2' wide with inserts 22" wide and 28" tall.  That was a quote based on an order of 5 frames so i think the price would go down if we ordered more.

 

So, I will call around to get more quotes based on the same products but we need to come up with a design that will be consistent with SS events in the future.  it's in investment so we need to think longterm with these.  Both styles are weatherproof.  It would be really nice to get a 8'x5' banner made to hang on the corner fence at Golf and 34th for event days.  That will stand out nicely and potentially draw people in that are driving by.  What do u guys think?  I will get a quote for that too!

 

Do we have any connections on signage?  I'm thinking Caitanya prabhu??  Is that right??  He made one for the garden a couple of years ago.  I will reach out to him. (Sorry, im thinking out loud and rambling a bit).  also, sorry for the grammatical errors.  I'm totally in the mode of passion right now!  :) 

 

Feedback is appreciated as soon as you guys have a chance.  that will better our chances of having these by Saturday.

also, here are some room ideas (...for decoration inspiration):

 

 

 those cushions/mats are a possibility.

 

 we can use curtins instead of the dividers to block teh mirrors.  it would provide warmth as well.  Oh! ...and we discussed shutting the door so that people will be more inclined to check in at the desk...instead of shutting teh door we can hang curtins as well that way the kirtan can still be heard throughout.  (at least for inside the room, we can ask shyamasundar to install small rods from the ceiling to hang the curtains...this will save time and energy later in set up and break down)

Can you send me the info on that account?  I think just the password if that's the email address.  David prabhu will need it as well since he has to data enter contacts as well.

 

Also, would there be any way that someone could create the email invite that will be sent out?  Ajith said that he would ask Anish to send the soft copy of the flier that was distributed so as to use the graphics from it if needed.  ...that way they can associate the flier with the event.

 

will the email address have @34th as the sender because that could get confusing if we're promoting Sacred Sounds.

I've sent out a couple of emails inquiring about a budget/planning meeting for the Sacred Sounds event but haven't heard back from anyone.  Every event we end with the same intention and vocalization that we really need to plan better and more efficiently....to make it less labor intensive and organized so that more focus and attention could be placed on the program and visitors.  After the last event we were all in agreement that we needed to meet 2 weeks prior to the next event (now July 20th) to really get things into prospective.  

We are now 13 days away from the event.  I'm going to just throw these ideas out off the top of my head until a meeting is arranged.

-We need to ask Syamasundar if we can have a corner closet installed in the Yoga room or a room/closet upstairs to store the SS stuff.

-Are we going to invest in carpets or use another alternative?

-Can we also ask Syamasundar if we can hang hooks or something like that below to keep curtains there instead of using the room dividers?  If that's alright, should we also extend the curtains so that they block out the back of the room not in use?

-We REALLY need signs made for parking.  We really need signs made for parking.  If we are really going to go all out, we could even get a small banner made to put on the corner part of the fence at the corner of 34th and Golf.

-Should we get a couple of indoor plants for the room?  ....this could be tricky as they will require maintenance....they can be kept in the library and watered at least Thursday and Sunday...maybe more if possible.

That's really all I can think of at the moment.  None of this is really essential, it will just make it easier.  That said, I will leave it up to everyone to determine if they want to move forward with any of this or not.  If so, do you think it necessary to meet to delegate these things and anything else on the table?
