Dear Devotees,
Please accept my Dandvat pranams,
All glories to Srila Prabhupada,
As many of you HG Keshav Anand Prabhu is visiting Charlotte. Below is the program details and about Prabhu ji.
Biography
Dr. Keshav Anand Das was born in 1976 to well-to-do parents, both of whom are doctors in Delhi. Upholding family tradition, he also excelled in studies, joining M.B.B.S. course at Manipal Academy of Higher Education. However, gross materialism, in the form of fame, wealth and enjoyment, did not satisfy him. Therefore, while studying medical science, he utilized his spare time to visit great centres of spiritual learning in the region like Sringeri, Melkote and Udupi. The three main schools of Vedanta philosophy, viz., advaita, vishishtadvaita and dvaita respectively flourish in the aforementioned centers.
Nonetheless, Dr. Keshav was instead attracted to the teachings of His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the founder-acharya of ISKCON, who had remarked in 1974 at Hyderabad, when asked if he believed in dvaita or advaita philosophy, that irrespective of the validity of either, there was scarcity of food due to drought in Andhra Pradesh, for which Krishna has recommended:
annäd bhavanti bhütäni
parjanyäd anna-sambhavaù
yajïäd bhavati parjanyo
yajïaù karma-samudbhavaù
(Bhagavad Gita 3.14)
That means all living bodies subsist on food-grains produced by rains. Since the rains are controlled by the devas, the limbs of Vishnu, if the latter is satisfied through worship, there would be no scarcity. The recommended method for worshiping Vishnu or Krishna in this age of kali is the congregational chanting of His holy names:
hare kåñëa hare kåñëa kåñëa kåñëa hare hare
hare räma hare räma räma räma hare hare
(Kali Santarana Upanishad of Krishna Yajur Veda)
Thus, Dr. Keshav Anand began to spend at least four hours everyday to chant the holy names and read Bhagavad Gita, in spite of which in 1999, he passed his M.B.B.S. with a high rank. Then he joined the medical profession in Delhi, but was aghast by the rampant immorality prevalent. He soon quit the comfortable life of a doctor to become a wandering seeker, always chanting the holy names of Krishna and meeting various yogis and gurus all over India.
Most of these spiritualists have only a vague idea about transcendence, which they presume to be some kind of energy that can be acquired through meditation and penances. Once they have achieved a little merit in this regard, these so-called spiritualists become victims of lust or pride and fall down. In contrast, Prabhupada had accepted the verdict of the great acharyas like Shankaracharya, Ramanujacharya, Madhvacharya and Chaitanya Mahaprabhu that Krishna is the Supreme Personality of Godhead and preached this message all over the world. The Hare Krishna Movement (ISKCON) transformed many persons in the lowest levels of human existence (like the hippies addicted to drugs, sex and sloth) to the highest platform of parivrajacharya (world teacher) and paramhamsa (perfect saint).
Dr. Keshav Anand also appreciated the contrast and dedicated his life to the Movement. In ISKCON, he practiced devotional service under a bonafide spiritual master. Becoming adept in Sanskrit and Bengali, he read the Vedas, Upanishads, Pancharatras, Mahabharata, Ramayana and Puranas as well as Ayurveda, hermeneutics, dialectics, aesthetics and comparative religion. After such intensive study, he concluded that Prabhupada had successfully harmonized the teachings of the scriptures and the previous acharyas in his books. Tat tu samanvayat (Vedanta Sutra 1.1.4).
Based on such an exalted principle (tat tu samanvayat), Dr. Keshav Anand now preaches through his lectures and books, available at www.seerandtheseen.com. His areas of specialization are Gaudiya Vaishnavism, debates between science and religion, and comparative religion. He speaks and writes in English and Hindi. Some of his acclaimed books are Guru Kaun, The Cheaters and the Cheated, Yog ke Rahashya, Secrets of Yoga, Mighty Efforts, Gita Sar ki Talwar, Science Fails to Explain Life, and Crazy Ideas. He is currently working on Devi Devata aur Bhagavan, Sakar ya Nirakar, commentaries on Prabhupada’s books, investigation of frauds in scientific research and educational system, and varnashrama-gurukul project Please find the program details below and you all are invited with your family and friends.
