Dear Friends,

Kirtan revolution is coming to the north of UK! We are delighted to invite you to 8 hour KIRTAN in Edinburgh – the capital of Scotland. Such an event will take place in Scotland for the 1st time. Nurture your mind, body and self with non-stop enchanting music.

KIRTAN is an enchanting, musical experience which everyone can take part in. Without the work of mentally quietening the mind, kirtan can carry us effortlessly to a place of quiet, to stillness. One of the oldest sacred music traditions of the world, the kirtan call-and-response chanting genre comes to us from India. Using ancient Sanskrit mantras to the accompaniment of instruments such as the harmonium, the two-headed mrdanga (drum) and kartalas (hand cymbals), the kirtan calls upon sacred energies which remove inauspicious things from the heart, bring us back to the centre of our own identity and awaken divine peace and love within us.

The word “mantra” means to deliver (tra) the mind (mana), and it is one of the easiest methods to use. The mantra itself, depending on which one is used, often incorporates a vibrational formula to call various energies or powers to oneself, or to awaken one to higher states of awareness, perception and realization. In this way, layers of illusion and confusion are peeled away giving one clarity and focus.

Kirtan is a spiritual journey: usually starting off with a slow tempo, gradually building up to euphoric crescendos bringing with it the concomitant emotions of extreme joy and elation. The atmosphere becomes instantly surcharged with spiritual energy and the enthusiasm of the participants knows no bounds. One who has experienced such an uplifting kirtan immediately desires to have millions of ears in order to hear the sweet kirtan more attentively and wishes to have millions of mouths. The captivating nature of the melodious tunes fused with the eclectic blend of instruments induces the heart with deep sentiments and enlivens the self to profound levels of delight.

Admission is FREE (donations welcome). Delicious vegetarian food will be served. EVERYONE is welcome.
