I've seen posts by other Win users saying their 3rd party plugins (aka, Filters) didn't carry forward & install into the new Ps 2024 from prior annual Ps releases. After seeing those posts, I'm holding off updating to Ps 2024 (commercial rel. 25.0).
We used to have to ensure our 3rd party plugins/filters were in a Ps Common Programs folder (or some name like that) to ensure they'd carry forward without us manually having to copy all our filters/plugins to the comparable file hierarchy in each successive annual update.
I have found that some older plugins did not migrate to recent major version updates. I am also on Windows 11, so I found the .8BF files in older versions in Program Files, and simply copied them to the current verion plugins folder. Looking at the list, it was mostly Flaming Pear plugins that got left behind, but also Redfield's Fractalius.
If this doesn't help, check out the plugin's website, because my experience above suggests it is their code that is failing, and there will other people in the same situation, so they'll hopefully have something on their Support or FAQ page. Those Flaming Pear plugins are so old I am surprised they still work (actually their UI are dreadful!) so there are bound to be issues. Remember there are 30 million people with Creative Cloud subscriptions, and I strongly suspect that pretty much all of them will have Photoshop, so it's the lack of posts on this forum that tells us that the vast majority of people don't have any problems.
FYI since I maded the above post, I updated to full release 25.0.0 and the latest Photoshop beta version, and while both had most of my plugins, neither had any of the Flaming Pear or Redfield Fractalius. Come to think of it, on my old system I kept the .8BF files in a folder in My Documents > Created a Shortcut the folder and placed that in the plugins folder after Photoshop updates. There's probably not much of a 'time taken' advantage to that approach, but I liked to think it was neater.
I was ensuring all my plugin filters were in the Adobe Ps Common Files folder. From whenever that was instituted it ensured my filters carried forward (yes, Flood could sometimes still go rogue...). It was so nice not to have to go back to the previous year's implementation and have to manually cut then paste into the newer folder hierarchy. I would hope the Adobe devs haven't jettisoned that design. Your backup 'tidy' folder sounds like a good insurance policy if they, sadly, did change approach to an older, less elegant one for users to cope with.

The most recent version of the Xero plugin suite we could find is not compatible with any version of PaintShop Pro past X8. As it is a third-party plugin, you would need to contact the developer in order to find out about an updated version of this plugin suite.
It seems I can not get any of my plugins to show up. I am using Paintshop Pro 2018 with windows 10 64 bit Do I need to install the 34 bit program to get it to work. If I can not get them to install and work, then there is no point in purchasing the product.
After I bought PSP 2018, I only installed the 64 bit. Many plugins do not work. Now I wonder if I should have also installed the 32 bit version?? Unfortunately my d/l link does not work any longer, as the time has passed.
Which plugins are you trying to use? While the 64-bit version of PaintShop Pro 2018 can use 32-bit plugins, it is possible the plugins you are trying to use need to be updated to be compatible with PSP 2018.
PROBLEM DOWNLOADING NIGHT EFFECTS THIRD PARTY SCRIPTS AND INSTALLING IN PAINT SHOP PRO 2018 Adam, Thank you for your prompt response to my question. I followed your instructions re: downloading and saving the 3 scripts in my name\documents\paintshoppro\2018\restricted-scripts. Did the same thing for the 2 plugins except used plug ins at end as the extension. Opened PSP 2018 and file\preferences\file locations and then browsed until I found documents\PSP\2018\restricted-scrips and selected. Depressed OK. Then went to the script toolbar and to where night scripts should be and nothing was there under that name. I still have PSP 9 (2015 version) loaded and this does the same in both PSP programs. Should I delete PSP 9? Today I downloaded two of the free scrips offered weekly by Corel. Both had the same problem as the Night Effects download in PSP and did not appear under scripts and work with PSP.

PaintShop Pro can launch add-ons and plugins, and they interact with PSP and can send it commands, but their behaviour during and after launch is internal to the plugins themselves.
Since PaintShop Pro X2 was released in 2007, there have been substantial changes to PaintShop Pro on just about every level of the program. While many of these plugins likely have newer versions, you would need to check in with the creators of those plugins to see what the most recent versions are, and what programs they are compatible with.
